Enjoy the captivating world of our native birds and animals through images captured exclusively from the Observation Deck at Birdsnest Gully.
Nestled amongst the foothills of the Clarke Range towards the upper reaches of the beautiful Pioneer Valley west of Mackay in tropical Queensland you will find the quaint township of Finch Hatton. And at the top of a small ridge above Finch Hatton you will find Birdsnest Gully.
From the Observation Deck overlooking this gully, I see, on an almost daily basis, many more birds species than I have managed to photograph. From common types like the Kookaburra, Currawong, Lorikeet and Magpie to the less often seen (by most people anyway) Forest Kingfisher, Channel-billed Cuckoo, Tawny Frogmouth or Imperial Pigeon. And lots in between such as the various Honeyeaters, Cuckoo-shrikes, Robins, Swifts, Doves and Fig-birds. And don't forget the Raptors. It is not uncommon to see Hawks, Falcons and Eagles soaring overhead or perched in the tree-tops. This place really is a Birdwatchers paradise.
All the images have been taken by myself, a self-proclaimed photography nut and are the best I can do with the equipment that I have available. This is a work-in-progress so be kind, be patient and simply enjoy. If you feel the need to comment my email link can be found at the bottom of this page.
